Canarian heritage

The Guayadeque Canyon, ancient Canarians, and the timeless village of Agüimes

AGÜIMES

Step into one of Gran Canaria’s most charming and well-preserved historic villages. Gifted to the bishop by the Spanish Monarchs after the Conquest, Agüimes is rich in heritage and beauty. As we wander through its peaceful streets, we’ll admire traditional Canarian architecture, learn about its fascinating past, and enjoy its artistic flair, including a collection of striking open-air sculptures that bring the town’s history and character to life.

EL BARRANCO

This breathtaking natural reserve is one of the island’s most extraordinary landscapes, a dramatic canyon dotted with cave dwellings once inhabited by the ancient Canarios. We’ll visit a cave-chapel still in use today, and, if possible, step inside a modern cave-home to see how tradition blends with contemporary life. For those who wish, we can also enjoy a relaxed meal of local Canarian dishes in a unique cave restaurant, surrounded by the beauty and silence of this unforgettable valley.
